About the Artist
My dream as a starting potter 40 years was to produce everything I used in the kitchen and on the table. I am still working on that goal. It has afforded me time to think and try what I wish to put out in the world as a potter. When I am cooking, there is nothing more exciting than when I can choose what vessel the food will look best in. I think not only of size, color, shape and function but additionally, I need to think of comfort, balance, durability, and heat-transfer when it arrives at the table. Mood, feeling and atmosphere are the reason I produce, but tactile sense translated to function is one step further in my exploration.
What I love most is the problem solving aspects of malleable clay. New questions are always raised with each piece and solutions come from working in a series.
